Alamance Regional Medical Center

www.armc.com
This unusually designed site for a Burlington, NC, hospital is a real pleasure to visit. Except for a dark green background at the top of pages, the background is gray. Layered on top of the gray are multicolored navigational links on the left. Colorful blocks that promote key features seemingly float on the home page. On interior pages, supporting copy blocks and visuals pop against the background. All pages have a curved banner that includes a picture of a patient or hospital staff member and a two-line “story,” with a link to additional stories. This feature grabs attention and gives the site a personality.

A notable interactive map is highlighted on the home page. The map shows the locations of the hospital’s main campus, its medical park, doctor’s offices, and other facility sites. Colored pins mark locations, with the color varying by the type of facility. A click on a pin brings up summary information about the facility, including such facts as address, phone number, and hours of operation.

Included on the site are some fine virtual tours and photo albums of key service areas. These photos and tours can also be accessed from the interactive map.

Site visitors are encouraged to submit stories of inspiring care, which is nicely promoted on all pages of the site. Unfortunately, the inspiring stories featured on the site are at least two years old.
