Texas Health Resources – Well-Being
www.texashealth.org/well-being
Organizations increasingly promote community health, although those efforts usually focus on disease prevention and identification/treatment. This special section takes on the broad and important area of overall well-being, and tackles the job nicely.
The site consists of two parts. One part addresses the dimensions of well-being: healthy behaviors, emotional health, life evaluation, basic access, work environment, and physical health. Each of these areas is covered with a wide range of resources from detailed information to assessment tools and quizzes to blogs. Content is extensive and well organized, allowing consumers to access as little or as much as they want.
The other part is a daily challenge. After a simple sign up, consumers are sent an email at 7:00 a.m. with a challenge. Consumers are encouraged to invite friends to join in. The challenges involve a diverse range of well-being tasks that take just a few minutes to complete – for example, discarding kitchen spices that no longer have a strong smell or color. This section of the site also includes well-being tips. Besides the great benefits of ongoing attention to physical and mental health, the daily challenges support the idea of continuous interaction with the organization.
