As the largest provider of healthcare services in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, Holy Family Memorial has a lot to offer area residents, and that is clearly reflected by its website. Areas of the site that are particularly noteworthy are:

• Outstanding quality section. The information offered is not as comprehensive as found on some sites. But the treatment leaves the impression that Holy Family has a huge commitment to high-quality care, patient safety, and cost-efficient operations. The home page has a sizable promotional box on quality excellence as well as a global link on the topic. The quality section itself covers nine different quality and per­formance areas, each of which is covered in clear and relatively simple terms. At the top of the section is a quality news flash that explains how Holy Family is the only organization participating in all 10 of the Wiscon­sin Hospital Association’s Partners for Patients initiatives.
• Unusual find-a-provider. Visi­tors aren’t going to see a typical search box to select a physician spe­cialty or search by name. Instead, the section highlights 20 doctors with their picture, name, and spe­cialty. (I assume these profiled doctors are rotated.) Below this area, visitors can see a listing of 33 provider specialties, as well as an A to Z search function by physician last name. Specialty definitions are also available. This simple approach to finding a physician works well. Physician profiles include a location map (a valuable feature) and a schedule-an-appointment option.
• Many preregistration options. A patient can preregister for an out­patient test, surgery, maternity, and other hospital services. I can’t un­derstand why more organizations don’t offer this array of services eli­gible for preregistration.
• Strong “about us” section. This section is comprehensive, well de­signed, and does a nice job of high­lighting important aspects of Holy Family Memorial.
• Visible calendar of events. Every page on the site shows a monthly calendar with scheduled event days highlighted.
