Animations Available Wherever You Go on the Web

There is probably nothing more dynamic and educational than viewing medical animations of the human anatomy, disease conditions, and medical procedures. But developing lifelike animations in multiple formats is not easy or inexpensive. And while having a robust website is an absolute requirement for any hospital (or hospital system) to attract today’s sophisticated and demanding consumer, budgets for ongoing health content licensing are tight. “It’s hard today for many organizations to justify spending money on something that doesn’t show a direct dollar benefit,” says Bruce Blausen, CEO of Houston-based Blausen Medical. Consequently, getting providers to fund Blausen’s animations, which total some 1,500, has become increasingly difficult.
A different path seemed to be in order. “Why not make medical animations available everywhere? Why not move rich media in a direction never taken before?” Blausen asks. With this view, “Blausen It” was born.
The first step was to convert www.blausen.com into a medical search engine. Get consumers as well as medical professionals used to coming to the site to view medical animations. Then get them to take the next step by making Blausen animations available wherever they are on the Internet.
