In today’s digital age, executives increasingly are expected to engage with their industry, employees, and the public through social media. According to Harvard Business Review, nearly half of a company’s reputation is attributable to the CEO’s reputation. Ninety-three percent of consumers believe CEO engagement on social media shapes corporate reputation. A Weber Shandwick study found that 86 percent of executives with a CEO active on social media describe the leader as “open and honest.”
Nowhere is the need for “open and honest” leaders more critical than in healthcare, where trust, transparency, and authority are the lifeblood of an organization. The CEO of the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City is acutely aware of the value of social media for healthcare leaders.

Chloe Politis, director of digital and social media at Mount Sinai
“Dr. Carr started at Mount Sinai as the chief of emergency medicine just before the peak of the pandemic,” says Chloe Politis, director of digital and social media at Mount Sinai. “At that time, he met with me to discuss a strategy to use social media for the emergency department and provide resources to patients. When he transitioned into the CEO position and his executive communications plan was being developed, we knew social media would be a big part of it.”
Working closely with Dr. Carr since he assumed the CEO role in January 2024, Politis has developed a robust social media strategy to position Dr. Carr as a leading voice in healthcare, leveraging LinkedIn as his primary platform. She discussed elevating Dr. Carr’s profile at the 2024 Healthcare Internet Conference and in an eHealthcare Strategy & Trends interview.
