You could argue site visitors aren’t all that interested in home page banners that promote key services and special offers or events; they just want to find specific information. If that is the case, why not make the banners a direct reflection of the global links? This approach is the one taken here, with good effect, on this site for a Syracuse, NY, provider. Five banners rotate, each one with the same or similar global link name, a half-dozen key sublinks, and a related visual.

Strongly supporting this banner format are global links that expand to show related links to virtually anything a site visitor would want to investigate, all nicely placed in topical sections.
