YouTube Remains the Dominant Video Channel, with 22 percent of Internet users visiting YouTube daily and another 38 percent visiting the site at least once a week, according to a survey by Ask Your Target Market, discussed on its blog at www.aytm.com/blog. The popularly of YouTube continues to grow, with 30 percent of respondents indicating they visit the site more often now than a year ago. Only 17 percent visit less often. When viewers were asked about competing sites, only 8 percent said they watch videos on other sites daily; 25 percent said they go to a competing site one or more times a week.

Moms Heavily into Social Media, finds a survey of nearly 1,500 mothers and other online adults by BabyCenter. Ninety-one percent of moms have used Facebook in the past six months, compared with 80 percent of the general population. Pinterest is used by 61 percent of moms, compared with 30 percent usage in the general population. Smartphone adoption is strong among moms at 81 percent versus 54 percent of other adults, and moms are four times more likely to check social media sites on a smart­phone than general consumers. Hospital Facebook Likes Correlate with Patient Satisfaction and Lower Mortality, finds a study of 40 hospitals in the New York City area, as reported in the February 1, 2013 issue of the American Journal of Medical Quality. Patient satisfaction was related to whether someone would recom­mend the hospital. The strongest correlation was with lower mortality. Each percentage point decrease in a hospital’s 30-day mortality rate cor­responded to a hospital’s Facebook page having 93 more Facebook Likes.
