Gamified Cybersecurity Tool Empowering Consumers – Coming Soon!

A few days ago, a headline popped up: “Marriott Hacking Exposes Data of Up To 500 Million Guests.” Not again. First a health insurance company. Then a credit reporting agency. And now a hotel chain I frequent. How does this happen? Where is the weak link that allows major corporations — and their customers — to be victimized in this way? Why can’t they detect a breach until millions of records have been stolen?

Enter the Ethical Hacker. Cybersecurity expert Ralph Echemendia has more than 20 years of experience working with government and business entities, among them the U.S. Marine Corps, NASA, Google, Microsoft, and Oracle. “We’ve got a multibillion-dollar cybersecurity industry, most of which provides very little to consumers,” he says. “There’s never really been any kind of tool to empower the user.” Echemendia intends to change that with a new “safeware” solution, Seguru.
By empowering individual users with safeware, Echemendia believes detection could happen sooner. Much sooner. “That would go down to minutes, and in many cases seconds. That is the goal,” he says.
Seguru has been in public beta since June, and a full rollout is planned for mid-December. Here, we’ll find out why Echemendia believes individual consumers might be the best solution to keeping data safe from cybercriminals and the Dark Web.
