Highlights: 2018-19 Best Hospitals and Best Hospital Digital Experience

October 31, 2018

Every August, U.S. News & World Report announces its “Best Hospitals Rankings and Ratings.” The “Honor Roll” is the top of the heap — a list of the 20 best hospitals overall. Inclusion on the Honor Roll is a highly coveted accolade, giving healthcare organizations a year’s worth of well-deserved bragging rights and strong motivation to stay on the list. The ubiquitous Best Rankings badge is heavily promoted on hospital websites and touted in marketing collateral.

For the past several years, ConnectiveDX has produced the Hospital Digital Experience Index Research Report, or HDX-15. HDX-15 began as an experiment in 2016 and it has evolved into a valued annual benchmark of hospital digital leadership.

The report looks at the top 15 health systems listed in the U.S. News Honor Roll and evaluates them across four digital domains:

  • Brand Clarity
  • Functional Capability
  • Use Cases
  • Market Impact

We’re pleased to share highlights from the latest HDX-15 report based on the U.S. News 2017-18 Honor Roll. You’ll see that two organizations consistently lead in both clinical excellence and digital experience. Other organizational rankings shift when viewed through the lens of digital experience.

Clinical excellence does not automatically translate to digital experience leadership, and top scores in each of the four digital capabilities are shared among organizations, with no organization dominating. What these results illustrate is an ongoing commitment to incremental improvement and innovation.
