If the promise of CRM in healthcare has been largely unfulfilled, data silos are partially to blame. Innovaccer’s acquisition of digital marketing and CRM platform Cured earlier this year could solve data challenges and accelerate growth for health systems.

One benefit of mixing and mingling at industry events is that you might discover another service provider with solutions that complement your own. That was the story behind Innovaccer’s acquisition of Cured earlier this year.

Cured cofounder and CEO Andrew Sawyer says, “We had obviously started to see them in market at conferences and as we were responding to RFPs.” As those conversations developed, both sides began to recognize the opportunity, Sawyer noted, of “how one plus one can equal three or 10 or whatever upside number we’d want to align to.”

Before they connected, both companies had made significant progress toward solving parts of the patient journey, from different sides.

Explaining the rationale for joining forces, Kanav Hasija, cofounder and chief product officer of Innovaccer, says, “We have the right data foundation. Cured has the right marketing and operations foundation, and if we come together, we can create a win-win situation. Once we infuse that data with what Cured knows and what Cured does, we can do wonders for customers.”

The combined offering is called a “healthcare experience platform.” Read on for highlights from our conversation with the founders of both companies and learn more about their vision and how it could benefit customers and patients.
