Digital-First Storytelling: Valley Children’s Turns Its Annual Report Into an Immersive Online Experience

Valley Children’s Healthcare wanted its 2023 annual report to be more than a retrospective. Instead of mailing a printed booklet or uploading a static PDF to its external website, the health system reimagined the experience as an immersive, digital-first storytelling platform. The new format highlights the organization’s clinical excellence, community partnerships, and economic contributions while putting patients and families at the center of the story.
“Our primary objective was to create a compelling annual report that reflects the full scope of Valley Children’s impact,” says Zara Arboleda, PR officer and communications director. “We wanted to celebrate our mission and deepen engagement with our readers.”
Each section of the new report was designed to speak to a different audience, from community members and donors to policymakers, healthcare partners, and internal staff. “Whether people are looking for clinical outcomes, community investment, or patient stories, they can find something meaningful here,” she adds.
