Previously, Matt served as Chief Marketing Officer for Summit Health-CityMD, a merger bringing together CityMD with Summit Medical Group. Matt joined Summit-City in September 2019 and in January 2023, Summit-City agreed to be acquired by VillageMD in a deal valued at $9 billion.

Prior to joining Summit Health-CityMD, Matt served as Chief Consumer Officer for Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare. Under his leadership, the Piedmont team established a reputation as a national leader in consumer-centric marketing and digital experience design, winning more than 100 local and national marketing awards.

Reed Smith is a seasoned healthcare executive with over 20 years of experience in consumer engagement, strategy, and experience. As Senior Vice President and Chief Consumer Officer at Ardent Health, he leads initiatives that enhance consumer engagement and experience driving transformation across the organization.
 
Reed began his career as a hospital marketing director before advancing to lead product development at the Texas Hospital Association. He later transitioned into consulting, where he advised some of the world’s largest healthcare brands and provider organizations. His early professional background in telecommunications and professional sports brings a unique perspective to his work in healthcare consumerism.
 
He is the founder of the Social Health Institute and a founding advisory board member of both the Mayo Clinic Social Media Network and the Health & Wellness track at the SXSW® Interactive Festival. Reed also co-hosts Touch Point, a weekly podcast focused on consumerism in healthcare, alongside Chris Boyer.
 
A graduate of Texas Tech University, Reed earned his MBA from LeTourneau University. In 2020, he was inducted into the Health Internet Hall of Fame as the Most Innovative Individual, recognizing his contributions to healthcare innovation.
